N.C. State's men's basketball team has another injured freshman.
Point guard Javier Gonzalez underwent surgery Saturday to repair a ligament in his right thumb, the school announced Sunday. Gonzalez, who shoots right-handed, will wear a cast for six weeks and be out for a total of 10 to 12 weeks.
The Pack recently lost guard/forward Johnny Thomas of Greensboro to a knee injury. He will sit out the season.
Gonzalez, who starred last year at Miami's Krop High, suffered the injury Friday during a skills workout when he dove for a loose ball.
He averaged 20.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and five assists last season as a senior at Krop High and was named Florida's Class 6-A player of the year.
