PITTSBURGH -- Carolina Hurricanes forward Scott Walker was treated and released from a Pittsburgh hospital Friday night after suffering what the team described as a torso injury during Friday's game against the Penguins.

X-rays and a CT scan were negative, a team spokesman said, and Walker traveled with the team to Philadelphia.

Walker fell to his knees in front of the Carolina bench with 2:38 to play in the second period. Pittsburgh's team doctor was helped onto the ice and paramedics brought out a stretcher, but Walker was able to leave the ice, with assistance, on his feet, right arm dangling at his side.

Walker was apparently injured in a first-period collision with Pittsburgh's Jarkko Ruutu, who crashed into and then tumbled over Walker next to the Carolina net. Walker, who fell awkwardly, was shaken up but returned to the game.
