Early in the second quarter, with N.C. State already up 14-0, Jimmie Sutton III broke through East Carolina's line to block a punt by Matt Dodge. J.C. Neal scooped up the ball and went in for a touchdown to put the Pack ahead 21-0.

WHY NCSU WON

The Wolfpack got big plays in the passing game. Quarterback Daniel Evans threw for three touchdowns -- 37, 21 and 15 yards -- and a career-high 335 yards.

Sacks by the N.C. State defense -- all by defensive linemen. Willie Young led the way with two sacks. The Pack's previous high for sacks in a game this season was three.
