In honor of Halloween, a few scary stats:

21.9 - Carolina's average starting position on kickoffs, tied for last in the NFL with Denver.

34 - Number of players with as many or more sacks than the Panthers. Carolina has four. Philadelphia's Trent Cole has an NFL-leading nine.

149 - Points allowed by the Panthers in their past five home games, an average of 29.8. All have been losses.

The Carolina Panthers' quarterback situation for Sunday's game at Tennessee will be contingent on a strained heel and a bruised back.

Neither Vinny Testaverde, who left the loss to Indianapolis at halftime with a strained right Achilles' tendon, nor David Carr, who played the second half with a sore back, was certain if he would be ready for the Titans.

Carr was the more confident of the two.

"It doesn't feel that bad today; it doesn't feel as bad as I thought it would, so that's good," he said Monday.

He said his biggest problems were bending over for the snap and not having as much zip on the ball as usual.

"I didn't feel great, but I felt good enough," Carr said. "Your adrenaline goes, and you can probably do things that you couldn't do if you're just sitting around the house.

"It's just one of those things that's going to take some time."

Asked how close he was to 100 percent in the game, he said, "Maybe 80, somewhere around there. I felt good enough to play. It's getting better, though."

Testaverde was more uncertain of his prognosis.

"It's still sore; that's the early report today," he said. "We've just got to wait til Wednesday to see how it feels, so we've got a couple of days to get some good treatment on it and try and knock some of that soreness out."

As far as Sunday and Tennessee are concerned, Testaverde said, "With this there's no telling. I've been dealing with this since the Cardinals' game. Some days you wake up and it feels great; some days, not so great."

DELOATCH LIKELY OUT FOR SEASON: Cornerback Curtis Deloatch is likely lost for the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee Sunday.

He was seen leaving the stadium on crutches Monday.
