Devils' Brodeur blanks Flyers

Goalie nets 96th regular-season shutout

Martin Brodeur stopped 37 shots in his 96th regular-season shutout, and the New Jersey Devils beat Philadelphia 3-0 on Friday night for their 11th straight home win over the Flyers.

Brodeur has four shutouts this season and is seven shy of tying Terry Sawchuk's mark of 103. Brodeur's total of 118, including 22 in the playoffs, is an NHL record.

Devils defenseman Paul Martin, who hadn't recorded a point in 11 games, had a goal. Travis Zajac scored his first in nearly a month, and Patrik Elias added a power-play tally.

ALSO FRIDAY

SENATORS 5, SABRES 3: Dany Heatley and Daniel Alfredsson scored late in the third period, and Ottawa handed host Buffalo its season-worst fifth straight loss.

Heatley, Alfredsson, Jason Spezza and Andrej Meszaros each had a goal and assist for the Senators, who snapped a two-game skid and won for the fourth time in six games.

Ray Emery made 36 saves and Cody Bass scored his first NHL goal. Ottawa owns the best road record in the Eastern Conference (14-4-2).

Ales Kotalik, Jochen Hecht and Michael Ryan scored for Buffalo.

LATE THURSDAY

CANUCKS 3, RANGERS 0: Roberto Luongo stopped 27 shots for his sixth shutout of the season, and Vancouver extended its home unbeaten streak to 13 games.

Ryan Kesler gave Vancouver its lead early in the second period on a goal that bounced in off the right foot of Rangers backup goalie Steve Valiquette.

COYOTES 4, BLACKHAWKS 2: Mikael Tellqvist stopped 25 shots to help host Phoenix top Chicago and win for just the seventh time in 18 home games.

Radim Vrbata tied a career high with his 18th goal of the season for Phoenix.

BLUE JACKETS 4, KINGS 3: Michael Peca scored twice in his return to the Columbus lineup, including the go-ahead goal with 5:05 left to beat host Los Angeles.

Sergei Fedorov and rookie Joakim Lindstrom each had a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets.

Brian Willsie, Dustin Brown and Patrick O'Sullivan scored for Los Angeles.

FLAMES 3, SHARKS 2 (OT): Jarome Iginla scored two goals, including the winner in overtime, as Calgary beat host San Jose.

The overtime loss helped the Sharks tie the Dallas Stars for first place in the Pacific Division.
