The Philadelphia Phillies have been getting booed for years -- certainly since 1954, when the city's first baseball love, the Philadelphia Athletics, bolted town for Kansas City.

The A's were the team Connie Mack built, Jimmie Foxx powered and even the 1927 Yankees feared for a while.

The Phillies, working in the National League, have been around for decades and have produced some of the most memorable teams in the sport's history.

The 1950 NL champs, nicknamed the "Whiz Kids," stunned the Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants and Boston Braves to reach the World Series, where they dropped four straight games to the Yankees. The one time the Phillies were the last team standing was in 1980, when they beat Kansas City -- not the A's, the Royals.
