N.C. Central tops WSSU in MEAC bonus game

RALEIGH - The N.C. Central Eagles beat Winston-Salem State 60-56 in a regular season game billed as a "Bonus Game", during the final night of the MEAC Tournament.

The game rekindled a school rivalry dating back to 1938.

Both schools departed the Division II CIAA to go to the Division I MEAC. WSSU has been accepted but N.C. Central still hasn’t heard yet.

As a result, the Eagles played 23 road games — losing 21 and usually badly.

With so many road games, few N.C. Central fans had a chance to see their team and when the Eagles played N.C. State at RBC Center early in the regular season, very few NCCU fans showed up.

Many were in attendance Saturday as fans of did the mingling they're used to doing at the CIAA Tournament.
