RALEIGH -
While Carolina Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford continues to digest his team's season before making any big decisions, veteran defenseman Glen Wesley is doing the same.Wesley, 39, said Monday he hasn't decided whether to retire after 1,457 NHL games or return for another season with the Hurricanes."I'm thinking about it and taking my time," Wesley said. "I really haven't been in contact with anybody. As I speak right now, I can't say what I'm going to do."The Canes haven't pressured Wesley to make a decision in the past and won't this summer, Rutherford said. Bret Hedican, 37, is also an unrestricted free agent for whom retirement is an option.Hedican left town immediately after the season to join his wife, figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, in California, where she is a contestant on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars." Rutherford said he had not yet had a chance to meet with Hedican."We really don't need to know anything for sure until June when we have our hockey meetings," said Rutherford, who has been spending time with his family but plans to return to the office next week.
