RailHawks win on penalty kick

The Carolina RailHawks edged Real Maryland 1-0 on Tuesday night at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, getting a penalty kick by midfielder Kupono Low in the 90th minute in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup men's soccer tournament.

Jamil Walker drew the foul when he was brought down in the box by goalkeeper Emilio Zelaya.

In the third round, the RailHawks will host Major League Soccer's Kansas City Wizards at 7:30 p.m. July 1. Tickets will cost $10, $15 and $20; call (919) 859-5425 or go to www.carolinarailhawks.com.

On Friday at 8 p.m., the RailHawks men host the Portland Timbers in a United Soccer Leagues First Division match. The W-League's RailHawks women host the Hampton Roads Piranhas at 7:30 Saturday.
