DURHAM - Both of Durham's reservoirs are filled to capacity after recent rains, and an announcement is expected today on relaxing the ban on all outdoor watering.

Durham now has 321 days worth of easily accessible water now, a far cry from the 36-day supply the city had in December.

City officials have fretted publicly that they don't want residents to take a relaxation of restrictions as a signal to resume wasteful water consumption. But City Manager Patrick Baker has said the city wants to balance that with small concessions to residents' desires to begin sprig planting.
