RALEIGH - A line of showers that moved through the Triangle Monday night didn't pack the punch forecasters predicted.Original forecasts hinted at a repeat of Sunday night's torrential rain and sporadic power outages, but the storm front brought only 25 mph winds and light rain."We had some indications there was some rotation in some of the storms, but we haven't had any reports of tornadoes," Barrett Smith with the National Weather Service in Raleigh told The Associated Press.THE GOOD NEWS: Recent rains have over-filled all local reservoirs used to funnel drinking water through the Triangle.Since March 1, nearly 9 inches of rain have been recorded at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, compared with normal rainfall of about 7 inches for the same period. Falls Lake was 6 inches above full Monday evening. Jordan Lake was more than a foot above full. Lake Michie, at 341 feet above sea level, is full.THE BAD NEWS: There remains a rainfall deficit of close to 8 inches since January 2007, so drought conditions persist.THE LATEST NEWS: As of 8 p.m. Monday, about a half-inch of rain had fallen at RDU since midnight. Since midnight Sunday, just over 1.7 inches of rain had fallen. Duke Energy's 2,251 outages reported in Durham County were resolved by 11 p.m.
