WILMINGTON - Lucian Ellis, 16, of Sampson County was killed Monday when he was struck by lightning while talking with his family on Lea Island, south of Topsail Island, the Wilmington Star-News reported. The family was on a fishing trip and was waiting on the private island for the storm to pass.
