RALEIGH -- Tropical Storm Fay or its remnants are likely to bring rain to North Carolina this weekend, but forecasters aren't able to say yet whether that will amount to a drought-busting downpour.
The newest forecast has the storm moving into the western part of the state on Saturday with the storm's center arriving about 8 a.m. Saturday. Heavy rains would bring welcome relief to the western North Carolina, where large areas are in deep drought.
The track has been shifting, and a high pressure area is expected to impede the storm's progress, so it is too early to know what impact the storm might have in the Triangle.
