Tornado watch issued for central N.C.

The National Weather Service has placed central North Carolina under a tornado watch until 8 p.m.

The watch covers the Triangle, the Triad and areas stretching east to Fayetteville. While no tornadoes have been reported, the conditions are favorable them, said Brandon Vincent, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Raleigh.

Triangle residents should expect bursts of rain and storms through the day.
