He was captivated by her beauty and intelligence and drawn to her deep faith. She saw in him the most handsome, talented, and charming boy in school. Soon, Boyd was spending every waking moment at Loretta's house and attending the church her father pastored in tiny Prosser, WA. They married a week after graduating from high school in 1955 and a life of shared adventure began.
Boyd and Loretta Howard joyfully celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 5 with a trip to Ireland. Through thick and thin, they have loved each other and trusted in God's loving kindness as they raised five children and three foster children. Boyd graduated from Univ of Washington in Seattle and excelled as a metallurgical engineer. Over the years, he and Loretta lived and worked in Brazil, Kuwait, Japan, Germany, and Italy - always joyfully involved in the local church. They moved to Holly Springs in retirement to be near many of their children and their spouses, 15 grandkids, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Still very much in love, they enjoy taking walks holding hands, working in their garden, and spending time with family!
