Willingham ~ Johnson

Katherine Marr Johnson and Davis Cartland Willingham were united in marriage at six o’clock on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro. The Reverend Timothy Jay Patterson and the Reverend Doctor John Mark Willingham, uncle of the groom, officiated. Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a reception at Greensboro Country Club. On Friday evening at historic Revolution Mill, the parents of the groom hosted the rehearsal dinner, and friends and family of the couple hosted the wedding eve celebration.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fred Johnson, junior of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hoge Dillard and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Fred Johnson, all of Greensboro. The bride is a graduate of Greensboro Day School and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was presented by the Debutante Club of Greensboro and by the Terpsichorean Club of Raleigh and is the Administrative Coordinator for the Charlotte Sports Foundation in Charlotte.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lee Willingham IV of Raleigh. He is the grandson of Mr. Charles William Connor of Gastonia and the late Mrs. Lucille Stewart Connor, of Mrs. Patricia Donnell Willingham Toole of Raleigh and the late Mr. Ralph Reginald Toole, and of Mrs. Bettie Harding Willingham of Columbus, Georgia, and the late Reverend Edward Lee Willingham III. He is a graduate of Broughton High School and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The groom is an Associate with Pamlico Capital in Charlotte.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride was attended by her cousins Mary Lillian Cohen of Cincinnati, and Katherine Lawrence Cohen of Boston, as maids of honor. Bridesmaids were McKinley Mann Johnson, sister-in-law of the bride, of Greensboro; Chaney Alexandria Adams of Columbia SC; Ashley Jane Avera and Caroline Louise Wearn, both of New York NY; Katherine Bennett Carey of Atlanta; Stephanie Cardwell Herndon, Kelley McKenzie Snider, and Elizabeth Laney Wood, all of Charlotte; Virginia Gaylord Longino of Washington DC; Margery Scott Springer of Elon; Elizabeth Fleming Sypher of Chapel Hill; and Carrie Alise Torn of Austin TX. Flower girls were Katherine Clayton Williams, cousin of the bride, of Charlotte and Anna Connor Willingham, niece of the groom, of Decatur GA. Edward Knox Willingham, nephew of the groom, also of Decatur, was the ring bearer. Greeters were Brittany Elizabeth Boardman of Denver CO and Catherine Ellis Easter of Chapel Hill. Melanie Matthews Jennings of Raleigh was a reader and Grace Marshall Mann of Raleigh was crucifer.

The groom's father served as the best man. Groomsmen included brothers of the groom Charles Kirk Willingham of Decatur GA; Evan Connor Willingham of San Francisco; Ryan Stewart Willingham of New York NY; and brother of the bride Robert Cross Johnson of Greensboro; Bevin Jackson Williams III, cousin of the bride, of Austin TX; William James Blair IV, Frank Howard Driscoll, and Michael Dennis Elliott, all of Charlotte; Dylan James Castellino of Chapel Hill; Earl Johnson IV of New York NY; Harrison Lloyd McCaskill of Chicago; Ellis Edwards Minton of Washington DC; and William Ivy Rankin II of Raleigh.

Following a wedding trip, the couple will reside in Charlotte.
