Greyson Carmichael Kane and John Reid Sidebotham were united in marriage on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Peace Street in Raleigh. The Reverend Dr. John William Yates, III officiated. A tented reception hosted by the bride’s parents followed the ceremony at North Hills. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Merritt Kane of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Marie Sutton Jones and the late Mr. George Woodrow Jones of Raleigh and the late Mr. and Mrs. George William Kane, Junior of Henderson. Greyson is a graduate of St. Mary’s School and Wake Forest University. She is an account manager at Eckel and Vaughan. The groom is the son of Ms. Frances Dunn Murchison and the Reverend John Nelson Sidebotham of Wilmington. He is the grandson of Mr. John Reid Murchison, II and the late Mrs. Frances Penton Murchison of Wilmington and Mrs. Grace Nelson Sidebotham of Winston-Salem and the late Mr. John Arthur Sidebotham of New York. John Reid is a graduate of Wake Forest University. He is a project manager at Wake County Economic Development.The bride was given in marriage by her father. Rebecca Carrington Kilgore of Raleigh, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Matrons of honor were the bride’s sisters-in-law, Sterling Story Kane and Katherine Knott Kane of Raleigh, and Victoria Creamer Kane of Savannah, Georgia. Bridesmaids were Helen Murchison Sidebotham, sister of the groom, of New York, Hayley Patterson Dillon, Jennifer Marie Spiel and Shannon Leigh McGorry of Washington, DC, Cameron Paige Robbins and McCauley Thornhill James of Raleigh, Lisa Jane Ottensmeyer of Chicago and Sadi Anderson Smith of Dallas. Flower girls were nieces of the bride, Julia Rainey Marie Kane and Eliza Blake Kane of Savannah, and Stratton Ashley Kane of Raleigh. John Merritt Kane, II, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer.The groom’s father, the Reverend John Nelson Sidebotham of Wilmington served as best man. Groomsmen were Bryan Merritt Kane and John McCormick Kane of Raleigh and George William Kane, IV of Savannah, brothers of the bride, Devon John Butterfield of Atlanta, John Bernard Byrne of Charlotte, Drew Marshall McAvoy of San Francisco, and Peter Alfred Sarrazin of Chicago. Ushers were Charles Richard Crockett of Dallas, Carl Lester Jones, IV of Washington, DC and John Chandler Maxwell of Nashville. George William Kane, IV and John Reid Murchison, II served as scripture readers. Cameron Briggs Smith and Madison Ryall Smith served as greeters. Following a honeymoon trip to Nevis, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
