Margaret Hayes Jernigan and Edward Doughton Finley were united in marriage on October 24, 2015 at four o’clock in the afternoon at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Raleigh, NC. The Reverend Gregory Samuel Jones officiated. The ceremony was followed by a reception at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard T. Jernigan, Jr. of Raleigh. The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Isaac V. Manly of Raleigh and the late Isaac V. Manly, MD, and Mrs. Leonard Thell Jernigan of Chapel Hill and the late Mr. Leonard Thell Jernigan, Sr. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Smoot Finley, Jr. of Raleigh. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Smoot Finley, Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Horton Doughton.The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her sister, Elizabeth Manly Harrison of Raleigh, served as the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Emily Catherine Bachman of Boston, MA; Lindsay Christine Davis, Natalie Lauren Rubin, Jane Wise Thompson (in abstentia), all of Washington, DC; Nancy Harloe Murphy of Greenville, SC; Sarah Simons Team of Winston Salem, NC; and Katherine Otey Zielinski of New York, NY. Edward Smoot Finley, Jr. served as the best man. Groomsmen included Andrew Hooks Harrison of Indianapolis, IN; Robert Wood Finley, Webster Glenn Harrison, George Bradley Hearn, Steven Michael Sartorio, Raymond Curtis Tarlton, and James Van Taylor, III, all of Raleigh. Lindsay Myers Cotton of Durham, NC, Sarah Katherine Moore of Cheraw, SC, Anne Rushing Williams of Raleigh, and Emily Stocks Walker of Dallas, TX greeted guests. Jared Allen Graeve of Houston, TX and Sara Moriah Scott of Ithaca, NY were readers. Mr. Aldert Root Edmonson was the Crucifer. The bride is a graduate of The Hill School in Pottstown, PA, the University of the South in Sewanee TN, and North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham, NC. The groom is a graduate of Needham B. Broughton High School in Raleigh and Washington and Lee University in Lexington,VA. Following a honeymoon trip to Argentina, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
