A-Rod and Jaclyn Cordeiro Break Up the Same Week He Watched His Daughter Graduate

The week Alex Rodriguez watched his younger daughter Ella walk across a graduation stage and shared joyful family photos with thousands of well-wishers is the same week he found out the public would learn his relationship of nearly three years was over.

On May 21, fitness instructor Jaclyn Cordeiro confirmed to TMZ that she and Rodriguez, 50, had parted ways. Her statement described the split as mutual and marked by care on both sides. 'There continues to be mutual love, care, and deep respect between us and for our families. We remain supportive of one another, and there is absolutely no animosity, drama, or negative story here,' it said. Cordeiro also shared that she is currently managing a serious health matter involving a family member, and asked for compassion from anyone covering the story.

A source close to Rodriguez told TMZ the couple had actually separated roughly two months earlier, and that the public announcement was simply a matter of putting a clear, respectful close on what had already ended privately.

Rodriguez and Cordeiro were first linked in October 2022, went public on Instagram two months later, and spent nearly three years visible together at NBA games, family events, and public appearances. The relationship represented a different chapter for Rodriguez, whose prior high-profile engagement toJennifer Lopez ended in 2021 after four years and drew intense media scrutiny throughout. Cordeiro, a fitness entrepreneur and single mother to two daughters, brought a lower-key dynamic to his public life, largely built around their respective families rather than the spotlight.

The breakup news arrived just a day after Rodriguez posted graduation photos with Ella, who is headed to UNC Chapel Hill. Those photos showed a warm co-parenting moment: Rodriguez alongside his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis, their older daughter Natasha, and extended family. The post drew more than 35,000 likes. The contrast between those two pieces of news landing within 24 hours of each other is what has given this story its particular irony with a milestone passed and a relationship closed in the same week.

Rodriguez has not commented publicly on the split. Cordeiro's statement seems to have covered the ground that needed covering. After years of being scrutinized as the man who came after one of the most famous celebrity engagements in recent memory, he has largely stepped away from that kind of story.

At 50, Rodriguez remains a prominent presence in baseball media as an analyst for Fox Sports, appearing regularly alongside Derek Jeter and David Ortiz on post-game coverage. His personal life, as he has signaled in interviews over the past few years, is something he has grown content to keep closer to home. Fans who have followed his journey from Yankee legend to broadcasting career to father of two celebrating his daughter's next chapter will likely be waiting to to see what comes next.
