Prince William Praises Kate Middleton's Parenting in Emotional Interview About Her Cancer Recovery

Prince Williamis speaking out about Kate Middleton's recovery from cancer. During an interview on May 22 with Heart Radio, the royal also praised his wife's parenting skills, her ability to speak Italian, and so much more.

What did William have to say about Kate? He gushed from the start, "She's been amazing. She's been through so much in the last couple of years, particularly. And yeah, she'd been looking forward to the Italian trip a lot. And so I'm really glad it went really well."

Speaking of the Princess's trip to Italy, as it turns out, her husband learned something new. When one of the hosts said, "I had no idea she spoke Italian either," William replied, "I didn't actually. She must have dusted that off from a while ago."

The conversation took a more serious and emotional turn, "It must have been a very difficult time back then with the kids as well. And seeing her being able to fulfill those duties must have made you feel very happy."

Prince William responded, praising his wife's parenting, "Yeah, very much so. She's an amazing mum and an amazing wife. And, literally, our family could cope with that. So she's been absolutely stunning, really has." The couple famously has three children: Prince George (born in 2013), Princess Charlotte (born in 2015), and Prince Louis (born in 2018).

This isn't the first time William has given his wife props as a parent. Last year, in an interview, he told Brazilian television personality Luciano Huck, "School runs most days, I mean Catherine and I share it, but she probably does the bulk of it."

While Prince William most recently opened up about his wife's recovery, he has previously spoken publicly about how the royal couple handled parenting during Kate's diagnosis. In the 2025 interview, he explained, "We choose to communicate a lot with our children. Now that has its good things and its bad things…But most of the time, hiding stuff from them doesn't work. It sometimes helps to give them a bigger picture."

Of course, William has praised his wife's parenting prowess for years. Way back in 2016, he said on Talk Vietnam, "I'm very lucky in the support I have from Catherine. She is an amazing mother and a fantastic wife."

Ten years later, and it seems like almost nothing has changed when it comes to William's view of his wife. And yes, that's almost exactly what he said in his recent Heart Radio interview.

Middleton revealed her cancer diagnosis in March of 2024, following an abdominal surgery the prior January. She stepped back from her royal duties while undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy. While she did not specify what type of cancer she had, the Princess did announce her remission and ongoing recovery in 2025.
