The sun never seems to set on productions of “Hairspray.” Now it’s Raleigh Little Theatre’s turn to stage the 2002 hit Broadway musical based on the 1988 John Waters film. The show’s central romance is surrounded by slyly spicy humor and smart social commentary as it follows plus-sized teenager Tracy Turnblad in her dream of becoming a dancer on a Baltimore TV show in 1962. 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday; 3 p.m. Sunday (through Sept. 7). $24 ($22 seniors and students). 919-821-3111 or raleighlittletheatre.org.
