Friday night, Raleigh’s Theatre in the Park opens “Black Pearl Sings!”, the heartwarming story of an African-American woman in a high-security prison, whose singing is overheard by a white woman traveling the South to record folk songs. She wants to record Pearl’s gripping performances, but Pearl wants to negotiate freedom in return.
