Friday afternoon through Sunday night in downtown Durham, the Carolina Theatre, in conjunction with Ultimate Comics, will be hosting the second annual Comiquest Film Festival, which celebrates classic comic book movies of the ’80s and ’90s. The films featured will be John Milius’ “Conan the Barbarian” (1982), Katsuhiro Otomo’s “Akira” (1988), Wes Craven’s “Swamp Thing” (1982), Tim Burton’s “Batman” (1989), Brad Bird’s “The Iron Giant” (1999), Michael Pressman’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze” (1991), Hayao Miyazaki’s “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” (1984), Willard Huyck’s “Howard the Duck” (1986), Mike Hodges’ “Flash Gordon” (1980), and the “Up, Up and Away!
