Growing up in Switzerland, Jens and Uwe Kruger were nourished on a musical diet of classical music and Bill Monroe’s bluegrass. It wasn’t until they played MerleFest in 1997 that they experienced the music of Bill Monroe firsthand. They became friends with Tar Heel guitar legend Doc Watson and moved to Wilkesboro in 2002, and inspired by Watson’s musical genius and audience rapport, the Kruger Brothers have become consummate musicians and entertainers. They deftly combine the most tasteful components of American folk and jazz with classical European styles.
On Saturday, the Kruger Brothers bring their show to Fletcher Opera Theatre in Raleigh. The show is sold-out, but names can be added to a waiting list by calling the box office at 919-664-8302.
