Following the traditional holiday hiatus, the new year’s concert season is off and running at warp speed.
Friday night in Raleigh, PineCone hosts Peter Yarrow at Fletcher Opera Theatre while Steep Canyon Rangers bring their award-winning bluegrass to Lincoln Theatre. Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams, formerly with the late Levon Helms’ Midnight Ramble, ramble into Cat’s Cradle’s Back Room Saturday in Carrboro for an evening of instrumental and vocal brilliance. Also Saturday, the South Carolina Broadcasters bring their old-time music to the Carrboro ArtsCenter. On Thursday, Yonder Mountain String Band will perform at Cat’s Cradle, while Arlo Guthrie brings his Alice’s Restaurant Massacree tour to Durham’s Carolina Theatre, marking the 50-year anniversary of his career-making song.
