Classical Picks: N.C. Symphony plays Mahler at Meymandi

Grant Llewellyn, music director of N.C. Symphony, gets closer to completing his on-going Mahler cycle with Symphony No. 7 Friday and Saturday in Raleigh’s Meymandi Concert Hall. The massive five-movement work reflects Mahler’s emotional conflicts, from brooding darkness to sunny joy. The 80-minute symphony is the single piece on the program.
