Kruger Brothers play “Swiss Bandstand”

As cross-cultural artifacts go, this is pretty multi-layered. Here we have German/Swiss immigrants the Kruger Brothers, the award-winning classical/bluegrass band that resides in Wilkesboro nowadays, going back to the motherland to appear on “Viva Volksmusik” -- a Swiss television show that appears to be a Swiss cross between “American Bandstand” and “The Lawrence Welk Show.” The show aired Sunday night and Tar Heel fiddle great Bobby Hicks also makes an appearance in the eight-minute segment, which starts a bit after the 1:21 mark here.

Closer to home, meanwhile, the Kruger Brothers will play March 27 in Chapel Hill.
