Ben Folds is returning to the Triangle to play May 6 at Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater. The popular pianist (and North Carolina native) will headline the latest benefit show for the local charity organization Band Together NC.
Since 2001, Band Together has raised a reported $6.5 million-plus for local non-profit organizations including Urban Ministries of Wake County, Kidznotes and Music Maker Relief Foundation. Past Band Together concert headliners have included Daryl Hall & John Oates, the B-52s and Lyle Lovett.
This year’s Band Together beneficiary is YMCA of the Triangle. Billed as “Ben Folds and a piano,” the show will probably have a format similar to the solo performance Folds played in Raleigh last September to open his fall tour.
Tickets are $20-$30-$40, with a $150 VIP package available. They’ll go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through E-tix.
