Walnut Creek goes country -- again

On paper, 5 p.m. Friday probably seemed like the perfect time for Live Nation to unveil its slate of 2016 country shows for Raleigh’s Walnut Creek Amphitheatre. Thanks to Winter Storm Jonas, however, this past Friday’s announcement kind of got lost in the duffle.

So here it is, a dozen dates that will make Walnut Creek’s season heavier on modern-day arena-country than ever before. This is pretty much the same set of country acts that have been headlining Walnut Creek for most of the past decade, but just more concentrated. And it is interesting but not really surprising that the Dixie Chicks’ Aug. 12 show at Walnut Creek is not being sold as part of this package.

Ticket prices for the complete “Country Megaticket” package range from $299 for lawn seats, $649 for “Silver” reserved seats and $989 for “Platinum” close-in VIP seats (plus service charges and taxes). Various pre-sales are already in-progress this week, with the “official” public on-sale set for Friday at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. Check megaticket.com for details.
