The concert lineup is out for the 2016 North Carolina State Fair, and this year it boasts a few true wild cards.

This will be the fair’s second year with an all-North Carolina talent lineup for the Homegrown Music Fest. And as you’d expect, it features the requisite amount of country, beach and religious-music variants. It just wouldn’t be the State Fair without that (and funnel cakes).

As for bookings that wander a bit farther afield, this year’s Dorton Arena mainstage highlights include:

▪ An Oct. 19 bill pairing Chapel Hill indie-rock superstars Superchunk with rising singer/songwriter Skylar Gudasz.

▪ Raleigh hardcore mainstays Corrosion of Conformity on Oct. 21.

▪ Kinston saxophonist Maceo Parker, sideman to James Brown among many others, closing things out on Oct. 23.

Like last year, all shows are free. The complete schedules for all three stages are below. Check ncstatefair.org/2016 for details.

For now, I have to ask: Will Dorton be able to withstand the pulverizing metallic glory that is COC? We’ll find out!
