The Good Wife (9:30pm, CBS) - Season 6 begins (hallelujah!) with Alicia refusing to run for State’s Attorney despite Eli’s attempts to persuade her to launch a campaign. Meanwhile, Diane considers joining Florrick/Agos as a partner, but an internal crisis threatens to destroy the firm. And Will is still dead. NC Bookwatch (Noon, UNC-TV) - Jason Mott talks about “The Returned,” his novel on which the ABC television series “Resurrection” is based (Season 2 debuts Sept. 28). Mott’s second novel, “The Wonder of All Things,” will release on Sept. 30 (the Wilmington Star-News reports that Lionsgate has already optioned the new novel for a film.)
Masterpiece Mystery: Miss Marple (8pm, UNC-TV) - “Miss Marple” returns with “A Caribbean Mystery,” in which the sleuth investigates the suspicious death of a fellow hotel guest during a Caribbean vacation. Another new episode airs at 9:30.
Madam Secretary (8:30pm, CBS) - In this new drama, Téa Leoni is a former CIA analyst called into duty after the serving secretary of state is killed in a plane crash. It’s an enjoyable but not groundbreaking drama elevated by a strong cast – Tim Daly plays her husband, Keith Carradine is the president, Željko Ivanek is the president’s chief of staff, and Bebe Neuwirth is the secretary’s chief of staff. Boardwalk Empire (9pm, HBO) - Margaret finds herself in a pickle due to her dealings with the late Arnold Rothstein, when his widow starts snooping around his covert affairs.
Ray Donovan (9pm, Showtime) - Ray makes preparations in case he is arrested, while Mickey’s heist doesn’t go quite as planned.
The Secret Life of Cats (10pm, Nat Geo Wild) - This special – a companion piece to last year’s “Secret Life of Dogs,” which airs at 9 p.m. – observes the feral feline inside every house cat, show cat and stray cat. Included: volunteers in Miami who feed abandoned cats; and different views of cats, according to cultures.
