New show: Gracepoint

When: 9 p.m. Thursdays on Fox

Cast: David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Michael Peña and Nick Nolte

Premise: Even those who already watched the British crime drama “Broadchurch” will want to catch this solid Fox remake.

Tennant, who played the lead detective in the original, also stars in the new version, which faithfully follows the “Broadchurch” plot of a small town turned upside down when a young boy is found murdered. There are no immediate suspects, so suspicion falls on nearly everyone. Meanwhile, the boy’s family falls apart and the police struggle to keep the townspeople calm while trying to solve the murder.

The first few episodes play almost note-for-note like “Broadchurch,” which aired in the U.S. on BBC America, but it doesn’t stay that course.
