What to Watch on Sunday: New seasons of ‘Homeland’ and ‘A Chef’s Life’

A Chef’s Life (7:30pm, UNC-TV) - Season 2 of this Peabody Award-winning series, which follows Vivian Howard, the chef and co-owner of the Chef and the Farmer restaurant in Kinston, starts with Vivian and her husband Ben Knight opening a burger-oyster bar called Boiler Room. Vivian is also stressed from dealing with staffing issues, testing new menu concepts and deciding what to do with 500 pounds of blueberries.

NC Bookwatch (Noon, UNC-TV) - Host D.G. Martin talks to Raleigh’s Wilton Barnhardt, author of “Look Away, Look Away.”

Bob ’s Burgers (7:30pm, Fox) - In the Season 5 premiere, Gene’s musical based on “Die Hard” isn’t selected as the school’s fall play, so he stages a production to run on the same night as Wagstaff Middle School’s performance of a “Working Girl”-inspired musical that features Tina.

Homeland (9pm, Showtime) - In the two-hour Season 4 premiere, Carrie, the CIA Chief os Station in Kabul, makes a critical decision when her counterpart in Islamabad delivers urgent intelligence on a high-value target. Back in the U.S., Saul struggles to adjust to life in the private sector, and a disgraced former case officer reveals disturbing new information.

Masterpiece: Inspector Lewis (9pm, UNC-TV) - Season 7 premiere finds a promoted Hathaway working a difficult case that involves neurosurgery, blood sports and animal rights.

Mulaney (9:30pm, Fox) - Stand-up comedian and former SNL writer John Mulaney plays a struggling stand-up comedian who takes a job writing for a difficult game-show host ( Martin Short) in the premiere of this sitcom. I’m a big Mulaney fan and really wanted “Mulaney” to be better than it is. The brightest spots are co-stars Short and Nasim Pedrad – both “SNL” alums. Elliott Gould plays Mulaney’s gay neighbor. This. Should. Be. Better.

The Good Wife (9:30pm, CBS) - Cary’s pretrial service officer interviews his colleagues to determine whether or not he should be released from prison.

Tethered (10pm, Discovery) - Sharks and snakes are encountered in Panama in the opener of this new series, in which two strangers must make their way out of the wilderness while tethered together.

The Strain (10pm, FX) - Eph and Fet set out to kill the Master in the Season 1 finale.
