Holiday Handbells: The Raleigh Ringers (8 p.m., UNC-TV) – A holiday performance by the Raleigh Ringers handbell ensemble.

Mr. Magoo’s CHristmas Carol (8 p.m., CW) – This 1962 cartoon has Magoo playing Ebenezer Scrooge and features the Jule Styne/Bob Merrill songs “Ringle, Ringle” and “We’re Despciable.”

It’s a Wonderful Life (8 p.m., NBC) – What better night for this Frank Capra classic, starring Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey, the frustrated dreamer who learns what the world would have been like if he’d never been born.

A Christmas Story (8 p.m., TNT and TBS) – The annual 24-hour marathon of this 1983 holiday movie about Ralphie’s quest for a Red Rider BB gun begins tonight at 8 and runs until 8 on Christmas day.

Also of note: “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” on ABC Family at 7 p.m.; “Bad Santa” (NOT FOR THE KIDS!) on MTV at 8 p.m.; “Christmas with the Kranks: on Lifetime at 8 p.m.; “Elf” on ABC Family at 9 p.m.; and “Merry Madagascar” on the CW at 9:23 p.m.
