What to Watch on Friday: The Grinch, Shrek and a sneaky Elf

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (8pm, ABC) - The 1966 classic narrated by Boris Karloff tells the Dr. Seuss story of the Whos, creatures who like nothing better than Christmas, and the evil Grinch, who has a plan to steal the holiday. This 40th Anniversary Special Edition includes the original 1966 special along with additional footage from a “making of” documentary, featuring interviews with Theodore “Dr. Seuss” Geisel and Chuck Jones, as well as some of the original voice artists, animators and musicians who made this classic the timeless holiday treasure that it is.

Non-Stop (8pm, Lifetime) - An air marshal pursues a hijacker on a nonstop flight from New York to London. When the mysterious villain begins killing passengers, the marshal becomes the prime suspect and must fight to clear his name.

Shrek the Halls (8:30pm, ABC) - Shrek, Fiona and the kids try to celebrate the holidays as a family, but visits by Donkey, Puss in Boots, Gingerbread Man and others turn a cozy gathering into a chaotic Christmas.

The Elf on Shelf: An Elf’s Story (8:30pm, CBS) - A scout elf who helps Santa determine who is naughty or nice is assigned to help a boy who’s struggling to believe in the magic of Christmas.

My Santa (9pm, ION) - In a new ION movie, a single mom falls for a mall Santa, and he reawakens her belief in the magic of Christmas. However, this Santa is hiding a secret from her: He’s the son of the real Santa Claus, and he’s on a mission to find a wife.

Raising Hope (9pm, Fox) - Howdy’s gets a new owner, who tasks her employees to come up with a revolutionary business model for the store. In the second half hour, Sabrina wants to officially adopt Hope, but she has to jump through hoops to do so.

Barbra Streisand: Back to Brooklyn (9pm, UNC-TV) - Barbra Streisand performs at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, where she’s backed by a 60-piece orchestra and joined by Il Volo, Chris Botti and son Jason Gould.

Man vs. Cheetah (9pm, Nat Geo Wild) - Big Cat Week kicks off with NFL athletes Chris Johnson and Devin Hester racing against Cheetahs.

Super Cat (10pm, Nat Geo Wild) - Another Big Cat Week special, this one exploring the anatomies and ambush methods of lions and tigers.

South Park (10pm, Comedy Central) - In “Black Friday … The Story So Far,” the holiday shopping season has almost begun and the boys get ready to battle the crowds as the race is on to gobble up all the new gaming defies.
