Rake (9pm, Fox) - In the premiere of a new one-hour dramedy, Greg Kinnear plays Keegan Deane, a criminal defense attorney with a gambling addiction and overall penchant for screwing up pretty much everything in his life (and in the lives of those around him). In the first episode, Deane takes on as a client a serial killer whose confession may or may not have been coerced by the Los Angeles police chief. Meanwhile, Deane’s bookie is trying to (violently) collect an overdue gambling debt, which he can’t pay because a client “paid” him with an expensive fish instead of cash. “Rake” is interesting and has some nice moments, but a whole hour of disaster after disaster can get a little stressful.
Also on tonight . . .
Community (8pm, NBC) - Abed organizes a going-away activity for Troy ( Donald Glover), and what starts as a fun game turns into a heated competition. This is Glover’s final episode of “Community” and it’s sure to be a little sad.
