Kitten Bowl (Noon, Hallmark Channel) - America’s favorite Super Bowl counter-programming – Animal Planet’s “ Puppy Bowl” – gets some competition this year from the Hallmark Channel’s first “Kitten Bowl.” “Kitten Bowl” features two preliminary rounds of kitten play, followed by a championship match in which determined kitties try to scratch out a big win. You also get kitty-player profiles and a look at locker room strategy sessions. Not sure if there’s a Russell Whiskers on the roster, but there is a Feline Manning. “Puppy Bowl” follows pretty much the same format. Both are incredibly cute, and both collaborate with no-kill animal shelters and get the animals adopted out to good homes. “Kitten Bowl” repeats all day. “Puppy Bowl” starts at 3 p.m. and also repeats throughout the day.
Super Bowl (6pm, Fox) - New Jersey weather permitting, the Denver Broncos take on the Seattle Seahawks in frigid East Rutherford. Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers perform at halftime. The pregame show starts at 2 p.m. on Fox, and the game gets underway at 6. Special episodes of “ New Girl” and “ Brooklyn Nine-Nine” air after (approximately 10:30).
Downton Abbey (9pm, UNC-TV) - In part four, Rose’s surprise party for Robert risks scandal, while Mary meets an old suitor and Edith (poor Edith) receives some troubling news.
Sherlock (10pm, UNC-TV) - In the Season 3 finale, a case of stolen letters leads Holmes into conflict with a master blackmailer who knows the personal weaknesses of every important person in the Western world.
