What to Watch on Sunday: Midseason finale of ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Normal Heart’ on HBO

Mad Men (10pm, AMC) - Tonight’s episode is the midseason finale -- we won’t get the final seven episodes of the series until it returns in the spring of 2015. Until then, savor – and overanalyze – every minute of “Waterloo,” in which Pete butts heads with Jim Cutler and a risky venture could mean a new future for Peggy.

North Carolina Bookwatch (Noon, UNC-TV) - Acclaimed North Carolina writer Wiley Cash is the guest of host D.G. Martin. Cash, a native of Gastonia, will discuss his first novel, “A Land More Kind Than Home” and his recent novel “This Dark Road to Mercy.”

National Memorial Day Concert (8pm, UNC-TV) - Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise host this annual tribute to America’s military heroes. Slated performers include Danielle Bradbery, Megan Hilty, Jackie Evancho and Anthony Kearns.

The Normal Heart (9pm, HBO) -This adaptation of Larry Kramer’s Tony Award-winning play is about the struggle by gay activists and health care providers to raise awareness of the HIV/AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980s. 9 p.m. on HBO. Directed by Ryan Murphy and starring Mark Ruffalo, Jonathan Groff and Julia Roberts.

Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys (9pm, Animal Planet) - This prized jewel in Animal Planet's "Monster Week" is a movie about a Michigan town terrorized by ferocious jawless fish that wreak havoc on beaches and in the sewer system.

Penny Dreadful (10pm, Showtime) - Dr. Frankenstein is confronted by his past. Meanwhile, Vanessa has a vision of Mina.

Crisis (10pm, NBC) - A parent mission could lead to war between the U.S. and China. Elsewhere, Dunn and Finley share their theories about the kidnapping with President Devore.

Salem (10pm, WGN) - Alden and Cotton come face-to-face with a real witch, and Mary comes up with a solution to the discord within the coven.
