What to Watch on Sunday: ‘Game of Thrones’ season ends on HBO

Game of Thrones (9 p.m., HBO) – It’s the Season 7 finale. Finale? Already??

NC Bookwatch (Noon, UNC-TV) – Karin Zipf talks about “Bad Girls at Samarcand: Sexuality and Sterilization in a Southern Juvenile Reformatory.”

MTV Video Music Awards (8 p.m., MTV) – Scheduled performers so far include Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Lorde, Fifth Harmony, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar and Shawn Mendes. Pink is honored with the Video Vanguard Award.

Diana and the Paparazzi (8 p.m., Smithsonian) – A special telling the inside story of Princess Diana’s entanglement with the paparazzi presented through rarely seen footage and testimony from those who protected her and those who photographed her. “Diana: The Day We Said Goodbye” follows at 9.

Drew Peterson: An American Murder Mystery (9 p.m., Investigation Discovery) – A two-hour special looks at Drew Peterson, the former police sergeant in Illinois who was found guilty of murdering his ex-wife, Kathleen Savio, and whom many suspect is involved in his wife Stacy Peterson’s disappearance. Not to be confused with Scott Peterson of Modesto, Calif., or Michael Peterson of Durham, both also convicted of murdering their wives.

Episodes (10 p.m., Showtime) – Matt’s tryst with Danika goes viral so he calls the head of the network to plead his case.
