What to Watch on Sunday: Premiere of CBS’ new ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ series

Star Trek: Discovery (8:30 p.m., CBS) – The first episode of this new series debuts, but subsequent episodes will air on CBS All Access, a subscription streaming service. It’s set roughly a decade before the original “Star Trek” series, following the crew of the USS Discovery. It’s “Star Trek,” but it’s a new ship with new characters and all new missions.

Who Shot Biggie and Tupac? (8 p.m., Fox) – Ice-T and Soledad O’Brien lead an investigation into the unsolved murders of hip-hop legends Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.

Ballers (10 p.m., HBO) – In the Season 3 finale, Spencer and Joe get a late-game assist in their efforts to win over team owners.

Episodes (10 p.m., Showtime) – Beverly is forced to tell the truth about Merc after Carol reveals she is pregnant.
