What to Watch on Thursday: Winter Olympics action starts, plus Duke vs. UNC

2018 Winter Olympics (8 p.m., NBC) – The Winter Olympics get started a night before the Opening Ceremony with figure skating and men’s and women’s moguls in freestyle skiing. Canadian Mikael Kingsbury is the men’s favorite.

Duke at UNC (8 p.m., Fox) – The Winter Olympics push this Battle of the Blues over to Fox 50 tonight. After the game, Spectrum News will air a one-hour postgame special that includes press conferences with Roy Williams and Mike Krzyzewski and other live coverage. That is on channels 14 and 200 on Spectrum.

Scandal (9 p.m., ABC) – Mellie’s plans to name Jake as her chief of staff push Olivia to make sure that does not happen.

Top Chef (9 p.m., Bravo) – The chefs put their scariest nightmares on a plate in dessert form during a Quickfire challenge set at the iconic Stanley Hotel (“The Shining”).
