What to Watch on Friday: New series on dog IQ features Duke doc

Is Your Dog a Genius? (10 p.m., Nat Geo Wild) – This new, three-part series features Dr. Brian Hare of Duke’s Dog Cognition Lab, who uses his groundbreaking research at Dognition to help dog owners better understand their canine companions. Most of the dogs and families featured in the series are from the Triangle. In tonight’s opener of, you can figure out if your dog was born a genius or if he learns from you. The second part airs Saturday at 10 and features a series of scientific tests that will help you figure out if your dog has strategies it uses to outsmart you. The series ends Sunday at 10 with a look at the special bond shared by humans and dogs and a test to see how your dog really feels about you. World’s Greatest Dogs (8 p.m., Nat Geo Wild) – Barkfest kicks off with this show about extraordinary dogs, including a therapy dog and a bionic dog.

Superstar Duets (9 p.m., CBS) – Country music legends like Clint Black and Patty Loveless perform duets with current chart-toppers like Luke Bryan and Miranda Lambert.

Bitten (9 p.m., Syfy) – Aleister casts a mind-bending spell on Elena, forcing her to battle her dark fears and demons.
