What to Watch on Tuesday: TNT hopes for ‘Proof’ of life

Proof (10 p.m., TNT) – The debut of a new series about a doctor (Jennifer Beals) hired by a terminally ill billionaire (Matthew Modine) to investigate cases of life after death in an effort to prove the existence of an afterlife. Also stars Joe Morton (Papa Pope! Watch out!) and David Sutcliffe.

Also on tonight . . .

Pretty Little Liars (8 p.m., ABC Family) – Aria tries to figure out who Andrew really is, while Hanna hopes that reuniting the friends will help them recover from past events.

Rizzoli & Isles (9 p.m., TNT) – Season 6 premieres with a Boston police officer accused of shooting an unarmed man on a Boston subway platform, so the team must find the real killer and clear the detective’s name.

Clipped (10 p.m., TBS) – The pilot of a new sitcom about regulars in a Boston barbershop, that even has George Wendt (Norm from “Cheers”). Also stars Ashley Tisdale and Mike Castle.

Chopped (10 p.m., Food) – Tonight’s episode celebrates the art of barbecue, first with regional sauces and jumbo shrimp, then pork spare ribs. The final basket contains bananas and coconuts.

Tyrant (10 p.m., FX) – The second season premiere of FX’s Middle East drama opens with Barry awaiting punishment for leading a failed coup and Jamal agonizing over whether or not to execute his brother.
