What to Watch on Saturday: ‘Melrose’ movie, Schumer hosts ‘SNL’

Unauthorized Melrose Place Story (8 p.m., Lifetime) – Last week we got the unauthorized “Beverly Hills 90210” movie, and this week we have the real (sorta) story of its companion piece, “Melrose Place.” The movie purports to highlight the behind-the-scenes moments that shaped the drama, including Heather Locklear arriving to “save” the show.

Doctor Who (9 p.m., BBC America) – An alien warlord sets a twisted plan in motion in order to ensure his survival on a remote Army outpost, and the doctor may have to do something unthinkable.

Pit Bulls and Parolees (10 p.m., Animal Planet) – An adventurous California couple want to find a dog to replace their recently passed one. Also, Matt must hurry to save puppies trapped under railroad ties.

The Last Kingdom (10 p.m., BBC America) – A new historical drama about redemption, vengeance and self-discovery set against the birth of England, adapted from Bernard Cornwell’s “Saxon Stories” books.

Saturday Night Live (11:30 p.m., NBC) – Amy Schumer hosts, The Weeknd performs.

Austin City Limits (Midnight, UNC-TV) – Singer Cassandra Wilson pays tribute to Billie Holiday.
