The Story of Santa Claus (9 p.m., CBS) – A 1996 special about a jolly couple who come to live at the North Pole and begin a toy-giving tradition. With the voices of Ed Asner, Betty White and Tim Curry.

Christmas Cookie Challenge (9 p.m., Food) – Five bakers compete to prove their holiday cooking-making skills.

The Last Kingdom (10 p.m., BBC America) – In the first season finale, a united King Alfred and Uhtred leave the cover of the marshes and make a rallying call to all Saxon armies.
