What to Watch on Wednesday: Final season of ‘American Idol’

American Idol (8 p.m., Fox) – The final season starts with auditions in Denver and Atlanta. Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban are back as judges, and Ryan Seacrest hosts.

Mike & Molly (8:30 p.m., CBS) – Season 6 opens with Carl and Mike trying to reconcile their partnership through couples counseling.

People’s Choice Awards (9 p.m., CBS) – Jane Lynch hosts this awards show in which fans honor their favorites.

blackish (9:30 p.m., ABC) – When Dre’s childhood best friend (Tyra Banks) – now an international pop star – visits, Bow feels left out.

American Crime (10 p.m., ABC) – Season 1 of this show was one of the best things on television last year, and the second installment, featuring an entirely different story with different characters, looks to be just as stirring. In tonight’s debut, provocative photos of an intoxicated male student at a party attended by basketball players are posted on social media, and the teen later tells his mother that he was drugged and sexually assaulted. Meanwhile, the headmistress at the boy’s elite private high school tries to protect the school’s reputation. Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton and Lili Taylor from Season 1 return.
