What to Watch on Monday: ‘War and Peace’ miniseries on A&E

War and Peace (9 p.m., A&E, History, Lifetime) – The start of this four-part miniseries simulcast on A&E, History and Lifetime, based on Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel. The story is set against the backdrop of Napoleon’s 1812 invasion of Russia and focuses on five aristocratic families. Gillian Anderson and Stephen Rea star.

Reel South (9 p.m., UNC-TV) – Two back-to-back documentaries: “Can’t Stop the Water,” about a Native American community in Louisiana; and “Counter Histories: Rock Hill,” about nine college men who staged a sit-in at a whites-only lunch counter in 1961 Rock Hill, S.C.

Scorpion (9 p.m., CBS) – Sylvester’s father, a retired general, asks the team for help when he thinks a dictator in Africa has uncovered weapons of mass destruction from WWII.
