Janis: Little Girl Blue (8 p.m., UNC-TV) – In this American Masters documentary (well reviewed when it debuted as a feature film), rock singer Janis Joplin’s life is explored through love letters and previously unseen footage.

Frontline: Benghazi in Crisis (10 p.m., UNC-TV) – Journalist Feras Kilani investigates war-torn Benghazi, beseiged by the Islamic State group and warring militias. Also, Safa al-Ahmad reports on the fighting in Yemen.
