What to Watch on Thursday: ‘Queen of the South’ debuts on USA

Queen of the South (10 p.m., USA) – In this new drama series, Teresa Mendoza (Alice Braga) is forced to run and seek refuge in America after her drug-dealing boyfriend is murdered in Mexico. Mendoza teams up with someone from her past to bring down the leader of the drug cartel that has her on the run. It’s based on the best-selling novel “La Reina Del Sur” by Arturo Perez-Reverte.

BattleBots (8 p.m., ABC) – In the Season 2 premiere, 32 teams compete in three-minute bouts in which they try to disable their opponents.

Bones (8 p.m., Fox) – The investigation into the murder of a billionaire explorer who went missing 10 years earlier reveals Dr. Clark Edison as a suspect.

Earthcaster (10 p.m., UNC-TV) – The focus is on the massive earthen sculptures of internationally known and Raleigh-based artist Thomas Sayre. Sayre has created several public art projects around the world, including the “three rings” sculpture in the N.C. Museum of Art park.

Aquarius (10 p.m., NBC) – Hodiak investigates a murder in a black neighborhood on the day of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination.
