Mary Jane Schreiber of Chapel Hill passed away at Duke Medical Center on August 23.
She was the daughter of Arthur and Lorena Moorhead and grew up in Indiana and western North Carolina.
Jane attended Valley Springs High School in Skyland, NC and Blanton’s Business College in Asheville, NC. She worked for several years in the business departments of radio stations in Hendersonville, NC and Durham NC.
Jane met her husband, Jim Schreiber, at Valley Springs High School, and they were married in 1958 when he was a rising senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. They remained residents of Chapel Hill for the remainder of her life.

Jane and Jim became members of the University Presbyterian Church, Chapel Hill in 1966. She was a constant, active member, and it was her joy and passion to serve in numerous functions of the church life.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, their three children, Wendy Schreiber Rose (Byron) of Great Falls, Virginia, Leslie Schreiber Hicks (Tom) of Chapel Hill, Eric G. Schreiber of Richmond, Virginia and Champ the collie. There are four grandchildren: Caitlin and Justin Rose, Jackson and Nicholas Schreiber. She is also survived by a brother, Arthur Moorhead of Knoxville, Tennessee and a nephew and niece, Michael Moorhead and Suzanne Moorhead Koontz.

Grateful appreciate is extended to two wonderful, talented caregivers, Larry Lee and Diana Yancey. These two caring people contributed remarkably toward bettering the quality of life she had in the past months.
A memorial service will be held on September 20 at the University Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am. The family will receive guests in the fellowship hall following the service.
